Description
This positions coordinates and administers the inpatient clinical management function for the assigned health plan patients. The physician provides clinical care expertise while working in conjunction with the medical management staff and the Medical Director of Hospital Services. These responsibilities will include medical management and quality care for the assigned patients.
CLINICAL
1. Evaluate and/or approve any medical/surgical admissions
2. Provide the H&P, daily visits and discharge summaries for all assigned health plan patients
3. Supervise and attend daily rounds with inpatient team case managers
4. Authorize all tertiary admissions and transfers
5. Provide emergency room evaluation for triage, admission and/or discharge
6. Utilize the services of contracted providers including physicians and ancillary services
ADMINISTRATIVE
1. Communicate clearly and completely with physicians and other professional staff concerning inpatient care issues
2. Represent the hospitalist group at all hospital meetings as requested by the Medical Director or his/her designee
3. Maintain hospital privileges in good standing
4. Collaborate to effect the delivery of timely and appropriate medical care and services
5. Provide services during the assigned hospital shift
6. Provide support to and all members of the hospitalist team
7. Attend and participate in all hospitalist group meetings including clinical rounds, educational lectures, team meetings and any group meetings as requested by the Medical Director
8. Strive to continually improve team efficiencies and patient outcomes
9. Uphold team goals by acknowledging and owning personal accountabilities
Commit oneself to continued support and accountability to the hospitalist program.
Qualifications
Skills: Possession of successful management, problem solving and team building skills required.
Computer literacy, strong verbal and written communication skills required.
Strong clinical skills and competency required.
Knowledge: Knowledge of Managed Care principles and utilization management principles required.
Experience: Minimum of 2 years clinical experience required.
Current active unrestricted Nevada medical licensure in applicable specialty required
Board certified/eligible MD or DO required
Current Nevada Medical licensure in applicable specialty.
