- Physician Assistant works autonomously to provide direct patient care and manage a designated group of patients in a contracted skilled/subacute facility.
- Performs aspects of care including history and physicals, assessment, differential diagnosis and treats multiple levels of conditions with limited acuity.
- Physician Assistant works under the supervision of a physician.
- Physician Assistant works in collaboration with a physician.
- Assess, examine and establish presumptive diagnoses for patients admitted to a contracted facility.
- Interpret and integrate data and patient history to develop the plan of care.
- Work collaboratively with physician to acquire direction and advice on cases or patient issues.
- Identify and direct complex cases to physician for handling and care planning.
- Develop and implement treatment plans in conjunction with the physician and other members of the care team.
- Work with the multidisciplinary team to identify patients discharge needs in advance and coordinate appropriate discharge plans, referrals and follow up care.
- Actively communicate with outpatient primary care and specialty care providers.
- Order appropriate laboratory and diagnostic procedures.
- Prescribe and order appropriate medications, including injectable and oral medications
- Provide guidance to nursing and therapy staff regarding treatment plans and care coordination.

Qualifications
Knowledge:
- Knowledge of professional medical practice to provide and evaluate patient care.
- Knowledge of medical equipment and instruments to administer patient care
- Technical knowledge in the use of computer programs for medical records or internet searches for medical research.
Skills/Abilities:
- Skill in applying and modifying the principles, methods and techniques of medicine
- Demonstrated excellent communication skills with patients, family members, physicians and others on care team
- Ability to read, write, and clearly speak English, bilingual skills preferable
- Ability to make independent clinical assessment decisions based on best medical practice guidelines.
Experience:
- Minimum four years of successful clinical experience in a primary or inpatient care setting
Critical Thinking:
- Able to formulate a differential diagnosis.
- Proficient in assessment and development of treatment plans for low acuity patient conditions.
- Ability to conceptualize the needs of the team and actualize plans to implement a plan of care.
- Successful completion of Physician Assistant degree from an accredited university.
- Must maintain an active unrestricted Nevada License in area of practice.
