Your Opportunity:

TechSource is hiring a full-time Avionics / Electrical Systems Aircraft Mechanic to conduct daily aircraft flightline and back shop aircraft repairs in support of critical mission work for our client. You will work closely with other mechanics and maintenance personnel on aircraft avionic and electrical system repairs, inspecting, testing, modifying, and repairing avionic as well as other electrical systems/sub-systems, such as radar, radio, navigation, and aircraft power systems/sub-systems. This position is in the Las Vegas, NV area. Typically, you will work on day shifts; occasional night shifts and travel will be necessary.

What You Will Do:

  • Modifies, upgrades, inspects, tests, adjusts, and repairs aircraft avionic and electrical systems, such as aircraft installed radar, radio, navigation, and power systems using hand tools and test equipment.
  • Inspects components of avionic and electrical systems and equipment for defects, such as loose connections and frayed wire, and for accuracy of assembly and installation.
  • Tests avionic and electrical systems under simulated or actual operating conditions to determine performance and airworthiness, using test equipment, such as oscilloscopes, digital meters and counters, and circuit analyzers.
  • Uses hand tools, adjusts, repairs, and/or replaces defective components based on analysis of test results, following blueprints, schematics, handbooks, and other technical documents.
  • Calibrates installed, modified, or repaired systems and/or equipment to prescribed specifications.
  • Operates ground servicing equipment to operationally test, inspect, and verify functionality and air worthiness of avionic and other electrical systems.
  • Assists in fabricating wiring harnesses.
  • Completes scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, parts ordering, and other aircraft system operation functions.
  • Documents maintenance performed in aircraft logbooks, USAF (United States Air Force) specific aircraft maintenance forms, such as AFTO 781 series forms, and use electronic maintenance information systems (MIS).
  • Assists with preparation of engineering technical assistance requests.

What You Will Need:

  • Active Secret (S) security clearance. Active Top Secret (TS) DoD clearance preferred. (Ability to obtain and maintain additional clearance as required by the Government is also necessary.)
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 10 or more years of USAF (or equivalent military service) fighter aircraft avionic and electrical systems maintenance experience.
  • USAF, or other military branch level-7 (craftsman skill level) technician (or equivalent) experience.
  • Experience working with blueprint drawings, diagrams, specifications, and service manuals.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a government driver's license.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and detail-orientation skills.
  • Ability to climb, stand, stoop, bend, push, kneel, stretch, and walk around hangar, flightline, and offices to perform routine work duties.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and carry parts and tooling.
  • Ability to travel up to 25% per year within the CONUS.
  • FAA Airframe and Power Plant (A&P) license preferred.
  • Strong military fighter aircraft maintenance experience preferred.
