About the Position

Career Opportunity:
The City of Las Vegas Youth Development and Social Initiatives is currently accepting applications for the position of Assistant. This is an Hourly position in the Youth Development and Social Initiatives department.

Supervision Received
Receives general supervision from higher level supervisory or management staff.
The purpose of this recruitment is to establish an eligible list for future openings.


EXAMPLE OF DUTIES

Performs a variety of administrative duties to include: Providing customer service support, troubleshooting and creating Excel spreadsheets. Composing, proofreading, translating and maintaining documents to include correspondence, meeting minutes, emails, forms, flyers, spreadsheets and reference materials. Tracking the department's city vehicles and parking validations. Assisting with event preparation and clean-up. Tracking, receiving, unpacking and delivering department supplies and, on occasion, participating in off-site shopping trips and events. Utilizing creative skills for various projects. Providing back-up support to the department's Administrative Support Assistants. Other duties as assigned.

$14 an hour, 19 Hours per week.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum 18 years of age.
  • High School Diploma.
  • Formal and informal education or training which ensures the ability to read and write at a level necessary for successful job performance.
  • Minimum of 2 years clerical experience preferred.
  • Ability to perform under the lowest level of supervision.
  • Ability to use proper grammar and possession of professional business writing skills.
  • Skilled use in Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
  • Skilled use of Microsoft Outlook (e-mail, calendar).
  • Ability to learn new software programs.
  • Ability to lift 20+ lbs.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
