We are looking for a highly motivated Full Stack Software Engineer to join our team at an exciting time. Our company is committed to building innovative technologies and future-proofing our business to stay ahead in the ever-changing digital landscape. We are seeking a passionate individual who is excited about working on cutting-edge web applications built on AWS. The ideal candidate should possess strong technical skills, a deep understanding of software development life cycle methodologies, and a keen eye for detail.

Outcomes and Activities:

  • This position will work from home; occasional planned travel to an assigned Southfield, Michigan office location may be required. However, this position is permitted to work at a Southfield, Michigan office location if requested by the team member.
  • Design and develop full-stack web applications using various programming languages, frameworks and libraries
  • Develop RESTful APIs and integrate front-end with back-end services
  • Implement user interfaces with responsive design principles
  • Write unit-tests and functional tests to ensure code quality and reliability
  • Optimize web applications for scalability, performance and security
  • Design and implement databases and data models to support the application
  • Contribute to the design and architecture of the application and suggest improvements
  • Conduct impact analysis of changes on the entire web application stack
  • Learn and apply new web technologies and best practices to continuously improve the application
  • Document the architecture, design, and code for future reference and maintainability
  • Troubleshoot issues in production and provide effective solutions
  • Contribute to team's sprint commitments and actively participate in Agile practices
  • Lead continuous learning activities to improve design and code quality as well as to increase application domain knowledge
  • Participate in talent selection process and mentor less experienced engineers
  • Communicate effectively with cross-functional teams including product managers, designers, and other engineers.

  • Development: Develops solutions using standards and best practices of the applications language. Writes code that implements the design that is testable, extensible, efficient and maintainable.
  • Impact Analysis: Understand the rationale behind and how changes impact the enterprise and/or applications and across the technical ecosystem.
  • Solution Design: Ability to translate high level requirements to create and implement designs that meet the needs of the customer, are technically sound, maintainable and cost effective. Ability to identify missing or ambiguous requirements. Ability to design at both high and low levels of abstraction, understand complex requirements and translate into understandable solutions. Ability to accurately estimate based on requirements.
  • Technical Domain: Have an understanding of the technical domain, including the application architecture, design and data of the application they support and systems to which it interfaces.
  • Facilitation Techniques: Organize, support and/or conduct workshops, meetings, presentations specific to the objectives of each, problem to be solve, and needs of the audience.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or closely related field of study; or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum 8 years of software engineering experience or comparable depth of experience
  • Experience in the lead role overseeing technical direction of a team of software engineering talent across multiple applications
  • Strong understanding and use of one or more object-oriented programming languages and design patterns
  • Practical experience in Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) including Agile/SCRUM and Waterfall
  • Practical experience in data modeling, design and messaging
  • Experience working on mission-critical enterprise class applications
  • Demonstrated ability to coach and mentor less experienced team members
  • Willingness to participate in an on-call rotation
  • Experience in building web-based applications on AWS OR OTHER PUBLIC CLOUD
  • Proficiency in front-end web technologies such as HTML, CSS, and JavaScript frameworks (React, Angular, etc.)
  • Experience with server-side technologies such as Node.js, Python, or Java
  • Familiarity with AWS or other public cloud services such as EC2, S3, RDS, and Lambda
  • Understanding of RESTful APIs and experience in developing and consuming them
  • Familiarity with relational and non-relational databases
  • Experience in developing and deploying containerized applications with Docker or Kubernetes
  • Experience with DevOps tools and practices such as CI/CD, infrastructure as code, and automated testing
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot complex issues in production
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.

Preferred:

  • Knowledge of AWS or other public cloud services and tools, particularly in building web-based applications
  • Experience with microservices architecture and containerization technologies such as Docker
  • Advanced understanding of IDEs, have the ability to navigate through them quickly and leverage advanced features to improve your performance
  • In-depth usage and creation of application programming interfaces (API) and frameworks in their particular field: JSON, Rest/SOAP based Web Services, JUnit, Jenkins and Bitbucket preferred
  • Experience in API security, analytics, throttling, caching, logging, request and response modifications
  • Experience in creating REST API documentation using Swagger or similar tools desirable
  • Ability to use DDL to create database objects and relationships, construct advanced queries, and optimize query performance
  • Financial services industry experience

  • Ability to communicate complex technical information (both verbal and written) to all levels, including senior leadership

Targeted Total Compensation: $242,000 - $313,750. Total compensation is comprised of a competitive base salary, equity, and an annual variable compensation package.
