POSITION SUMMARY: Direct and manage safety, human resources, assets, budget, technical knowledge, refractory, and outsourcing related to production and process plant activities to maximize short-and long-term equipment performance, product quality, materials efficiency, and inventory levels while minimizing productions cost and waste. Establish Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and develop plans to meet company targets. Lead and drive to meet company culture and standards on EH&S, continuous improvement, reporting, interdepartmental team building, team development, and workplace tidiness. Proactive leader seeking initiatives to increase efficiency and performance.

RESPONSIBILITIES & EXPECTATIONS:

1. Assets short-and long-term performance level:

  • Ensure sustainable high equipment throughout

  • Ensure high process control operation

  • Monitor and maintain instrumentation

  • Field walkthroughs and operation data to feed outages planning

  • Strong contribution of improvement to the 5YP

  • Maintain and update equipment protections and alarm system

2. Kilns condition:

  • Ensure refractory management as per LNA standards

  • Manage a detailed short-and long-term planning for kiln internals

  • Define and update procedures to eliminate kilns operation damages

3. Cost control:

  • Preparation of annual budget. Cost control to meet budget

  • Monthly analysis to report accurate forecasts

  • Cost optimization by managing fuel blending and fuel consumption

  • Develop plans to eliminate waste

  • Efficient use of labor by proposing equipment and automation improvements

  • Monitor day to day fuel inventory levels and usage. Schedule the monthly topographic surveys. Perform the monthly reconciliation of the fuel inventories and any necessary variance investigations.

4. Department organization:

  • Ensure effective communication to the production teams

  • Elaborate clear procedures and instructions for supervisors, control room operators, bulk loaders, loader op., and kiln attendants to ensure rotate performance aligned with company targets.

  • Maintain clear, adequate, and updated RREs

  • Ensure good recordkeeping of operation upsets and breakdown

  • Ensure correct training of every production employee

  • Fills for Shipping Supervisor and Process Engineer

5. KPI and reporting:

  • Establish KPIs and report deviations

  • Ensures instruments are operating and accurate

  • Ensures reported data is accurate

  • Ensures adequate performance monitoring, effective Wonderware trends, and daily analysis

  • Develop plans to increase productivity

6. Customers and quality:

  • Ensure operating parameters, guidelines, and procedures to meet quality standard

  • Implement actions to anticipate customer complaints and ensures thorough analysis of every customer complaint.

  • Proactive seeks to increase know-how and process control.

7. Environmental, Health and Safety:

  • Lead by example and demonstrate EH&S leadership

  • Ensure compliance with all EH&S standards, programs, and requirements

  • Monitors workplace to ensure a safe and healthy environment

  • Proactive to report housekeeping problems

  • Sensitive to whole plant tidiness

  • Ensures good operating practices for Env. equipment

8. High field presence:

  • Intensive field presence to observe problems, inefficiencies, risks, opportunities for improvement

  • Brainstorm problems, analyze dynamics at field level gathering firsthand field information

Safe Quality Food (SQF)

  • Ensure a SQF workplace and in regulatory compliance with Federal FDA - Food Modernization Safety Act (CFR Code of Federal Regulations Title 21, , Part 507)

  • Support Environmental Health and Safety, as well as SQF initiatives and awareness programs.

  • Be a leader and promoter of employee safety and SQF culture.

  • Ensure employees have a clear understanding of expected safety and SQF performance and the required training.

  • Ensure proper training programs are implemented for new employees and continued for existing employees.

  • Actively participate in audits for regulatory, safety, SQF and environmental compliance at the site.

  • Ability to multi-task, with excellent organizational and communication skills, proven problem-solving skills and can think "outside the box".

  • Must be capable of work any shift, overtime, seven days, or holidays, if needed.

  • Must have strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint software. Previous SAP knowledge is a plus.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

* Must be physically able to perform work assigned.

* Must be physically capable of accessing all plant locations.

* Access all areas within a site which could include heights of 150 feet, confined spaces, climbing ladders or stairs, and accessing tunnels.

* Will be working at times in covered environment but mainly in a lime/mineral environment.

* The employee will be exposed to the following working conditions: Extreme Heat and Cold, Noise, Vibration, Oils, and Atmospheric Conditions such as Dust, Fumes, and Lime/Mineral Particles.

* The employee will be required to perform the following actions (from time to time): Standing, walking, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, talking, seeing, hearing and sitting.

* Ability to lift/carry up to 50 pounds.

REQUIRED EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience.

PREFERRED EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Science or any Engineering discipline.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Five (5) years industrial lime/minerals/cement experience in supervisory/management roles.

PREFFERED EXPERIENCE:

  • Ten (10) years industrial lime/cement experience in supervisory/management roles.
